FDU Magazine Online - Summer/Fall 2008

Fairleigh Dickinson’s Global Issues Gateway (GIG) Web site serves as a portal between the University community and the world. The site, located at www.gig.org, is designed to increase global awareness and shed light on the various elements and impacts of globalization. The site debuted in 2004 and features contributions from faculty members, visiting global scholars and students. Image: Global Issues Gateway Screenshot

GIG’s main features include:

  • Exploring Globalization: a peer-reviewed academic journal with articles, essays, interviews and book reviews on globalization. The editorial board includes FDU faculty members and the advisory board features scholars from throughout the nation and abroad.

  • Global Events: a free and educational archive of more than 100 streamed videos of events held at the University, including lectures by U.N. ambassadors, videoconferences from the United Nations and various FDU conferences and other events focusing on global topics.

  • Global Virtual Classroom: a flagship project that provides essential tools to connect an FDU classroom and a classroom located anywhere in the world. This program represents an exciting expansion of the Global Virtual Faculty concept, allowing for class-to-class and student-to-student engagement.Article End
