When Fairleigh Dickinson University opened Wroxton College in 1965, it became the first American higher-education institution to own a campus overseas. With its idyllic location close to Stratford- upon-Avon, London and Birmingham, the “Wroxton Experience” is ideal for those studying literature, Shakespeare or theater. But Wroxton is so much more than that, and many other subjects — from criminal justice to business administration — are offered there.

Students live and study in the 17th-century Jacobean mansion known as Wroxton Abbey. In addition to full semesters, Wroxton offers many shorter programs. Over the last 10 years, interest and enrollment in the college have grown, with 66 students attending one recent semester. However, class size remains limited in order to ensure the best living-and-learning experience possible.

The Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC ), recently granted Wroxton College Premier College Status, its top recommendation. Only 12 other colleges in the United Kingdom have received this distinction.

Courses are taught by the lecture, seminar and tutorial method employed in British universities. Students benefit from valuable links established with major British institutions including the Shakespeare Center, The Shakespeare Institute (University of Birmingham), the Houses of Parliament and Scotland Yard. They also enjoy excursions to notable sites throughout England and Europe.

With more than 7,500 attendees to date — including 250 from institutions other than Fairleigh Dickinson University — and a yearly reunion drawing devoted Wroxton alumni each year, it is evident that the Wroxton Experience has broadened many horizons.
