From semester-long study experiences at FDU’s campus in Wroxton, England, and summer courses at FDU-Vancouver, to faculty-led, short-term study abroad related to particular courses or areas of interest, FDU offers a variety of opportunities to live and learn in other countries.
In consideration of the University’s global mission and at the request of President J. Michael Adams, a University Study-abroad Task Force including representatives from each of FDU’s four colleges was formed in 2006. As a result, study-abroad operations were consolidated under FDU’s Office of Global Learning.
In particular, the number of short-term study-abroad trips has grown. Last year, FDU saw more students attend these 10- to 20-day-long experiences than opt for a traditional 15-week semester abroad. These faculty-led programs consisted of student groups ranging in size from 12 to 26, with destinations including China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Switzerland, Belize, Italy and England.
FDU also has partner universities around the world that provide comprehensive programs taught in English. These include Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing, China; Central European University in Budapest, Hungary; and the International University of Monaco.
