THE NEXT STEPS

The symposium concluded with an informal
session in which participants could
propose future activities. “It is our hope
that the results of the symposium will extend
far beyond its duration,” said Salem.
“We anticipate that this will enable Fairleigh
Dickinson to launch new programs
and courses and to develop closer relations
with other institutions with common interests.”
(Segments of the symposium will
be posted to www.gig.org this spring
semester.)
“The symposium is step one.
Now, with the workshops you attended and things you learned, what are you going to do?”

“The expectation for this symposium
was for everyone to leave with knowledge
they did not have before,” Singleton said.
“It’s important to begin to think about
what’s happening in other countries, because
it affects everything.”
Addressing her fellow students at the
concluding session, Singleton said, “The
symposium is step one. Now, with the
workshops you attended and things you
learned, what are you going to do?”
