Browser Options
If you are using Version 7 or below of the Internet Explorer browser, or if you are using Internet Explorer and have selected the Compatibility View mode, you may not be getting the best available performance in your use of fdu.edu and other websites. Here are some options you may wish to consider:
(1) Turning off compatibility view if it's on
Internet Explorer versions 8 through 10 provide a "Compatibility View", and IE11 provides "Emulation Mode". Many websites will look better with these options set to off. At the right end of the location bar at the top of the browser window, look for an icon resembling a torn piece of paper. Example images below show the appearance for settings "on" and "off". The icon is a toggle - each time you click you go from off to on, or on to off.

(2) Upgrading to IE8 if still using IE7 under the Windows XP operating system
If your computer utilizes the Windows XP operating system, your Microsoft-supported options are limited, since Microsoft no longer fully supports Windows XP. If you are using Internet Explorer Version 7 or below, however, you can upgrade to Internet Explorer Version 8 (IE8), the latest Internet Explorer browser offered for use with Windows XP. The Microsoft Support site at How to Install Internet Explorer 8 provides information on how to do this.
(3) Using Firefox or another alternative browser
Other mainstream vendors offer alternatives to the Internet Explorer browser; you may find that one or more alternative browsers are already installed on your computer. The BrowseHappy website lists some of these alternatives and provides information on how to install them.
(4) Upgrading to IE11 if using Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system
If your Windows operating system is Windows 7 or Windows 8, but your Internet Explorer browser is not up to date, the same BrowseHappy website mentioned above provides information on how to upgrade to the latest Microsoft web browser version.
