Global Student Ambassadors from FDU

Ambassadors of Learning

For these students, being fortunate enough to have experienced global-education opportunities firsthand comes with the requisite responsibility of bringing their new-found perspectives back to FDU. “The experience of the students at conferences such as these will not only have a transformational impact on their own studies and careers, but will also help develop programs and initiatives to engage students on all of our campuses,” Scorza says.

“Participation in the [U.N. human-rights] conference helped prepare Jillian and Jackie to serve in leadership roles in the human-rights work to be carried out on our campuses,” Murphy elaborates.

Taufik is sharing her learning experiences in her capacity as academic affairs senator of the Student Government Association and as president of both U.N. Connected — an organization that promotes FDU’s ties with the United Nations and provides students with academic and social activities that focus on learning about global issues — and Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. Being part of the forum emphasized the importance of having a global education and has motivated Taufik to pursue a graduate degree in international policy and practice. “Global education is so important in the world today where everything and everyone are so interconnected,” she adds. “Everything that we do as citizens of the world not only affects the environment but also the people around us.”

“As global citizens, these students are motivated to expand their relationships and collaborative experiences with other students from the more than 100 countries represented in the FDU student population,” says Murphy.

By ensuring that educational opportunities such as these become shared learning experiences, FDU has strengthened the culture of global learning on its campuses.
