fdu named one of top entrepreneurial schools

Fairleigh Dickinson University has been ranked one of the 50 “Best Entrepreneurial Schools” by SUCCESS magazine. FDU is the only New Jersey institution to earn this distinction.

The study, published in the February/March issue, ranked schools on a number of criteria, including the caliber of students, faculty, curriculum, outreach to the community, innovative programs and reputation among fellow schools.

“There are more than 250 entrepreneurship programs in the country and more appearing all the time,” says SUCCESS president and publisher Victoria Conte. “To make the list shows superior innovation and accomplishment by these schools.”

Established in 1989, FDU’s Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies is part of the Samuel J. Silberman College of Business Administration, which is accredited by the prestigious AACSB International–The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Leo Rogers, interim dean of the Silberman College and director of the institute, says, “We are proud to be cited by SUCCESS magazine. This honor is a tribute to the innovative programs that we offer to students and the community — programs like our newly announced business incubator and the Family Business Forum.”

The business incubator will assist students and others in starting technology and Internet-related businesses. The Family Business Forum, which has been supporting family businesses for nearly a decade, explores family and business issues and coordinates the competition for the New Jersey Family Business of the Year Award. This year, Family Business Forum programs include “Succession Planning Workshop,” “Performance Evaluation and Compensation” and “The Extended Family.”

The Rothman Institute offers majors in entrepreneurial studies on the graduate and undergraduate levels, a post-MBA certificate in entrepreneurial studies and an undergraduate-level Certificate in Entrepreneurial and Business Management Studies for adults. The institute also coordinates the East Coast Collegiate Entrepreneur Awards program.
